Samadhis In Vrindavan

Normally a samadhi is placed near a temple or where a devotee did his bhajana. There are basically three types of samadhis in Vrindavana. They are full body, pushpa samadhi, and smriti (memory). It is said that Jiva Gosvami did bhajana in the exact same place as where his samadhi is located. Lokanatha Gosvami, Bhugarbha Gosvami and Prabodhananda Gosvami all did bhajana at the places where their samadhis are located.

Jugal Kishore Temple In Vrindavan

It is sometimes called the Kesi ghata temple, as it is located next to this ghata. It is one of the oldest temples of Vrindavan, completed in 1627.Akbar gave permission for four temples to be built by the Gaudiya Vaisnavas, which were Madana-mohana, Govindaji, Gopinatha and Jugal Kishore after visiting Vrindavan.

Radha-Syamasundara Temple In Vrindavan

These are the Deities of Syamananda Prabhu. It is one of the seven major temples in Vrindavana. Syamananda’s samadhi is across the street and down from the entrance of the temple. Darshan is from 8.30 to 11 am and 5 to 8 pm.

Braja Mandala Parikrama In Vrindavan

This parikrama starts from Vrindavana which Helds every year in Kartika (Oct/Nov). The parikarma visits most of major place in the Braja area including Mathura, Radha Kund, Varsana, Nandagrama, Gokula, Vrindavana, and Govardhana Hill. It is traditional to do this walk in bare feet, although shoes are permitted. It is a one-month walking tour that goes to all 12 forests in Vrindavana.

Chir Ghat In Vrindavan

Gopiswara Mahadeva Temple In Vrindavan

It is the oldest temple in Vrindavan. This temple is in the Vamsivata area. Vajranabha, the great grandson of Krishna installed the shiv-linga in this temple. Every morning from 4 am to noon, thousands of people pour Yamuna water over the linga. It is said that the big pipal tree here is a kalpavriksya tree and will fulfil all desires.

Sona Gauranga Temple In Vrindavan

Jagannatha Dasa Babaji worshiped these Deities of Lord Caitanya and Lord Nityananda, while he was living at Surya Kunda. Since they shone so brightly, everyone thought they were made of gold. These Deities were worshiped by Jagannath Dasa Babaji. They are located in a person’s house next to Prema Talkies cinema in the lane opposite the Radha Gopinath Temple.

Radha-Gopinath Temple In Vrindavan

Gopinathji was originally installed in Vrindavana by Vajranabha, the great grandson of Krishna. The Deity of Gopinath was discovered at Vamsivat by Paramananda Bhattacharya, who entrusted the Deity’s worship to Madhu Pandita. On the altar are deities of Srimati Radharani and Her sister, Ananga Manjari, Madhu Pandita’s samadhi is next to the temple. When the Muslims raided Vrindavana, the original Gopinath Deity was taken to Jaipur. The Gopinath Deity in Jaipur and Lord Krishna are said to exactly resemble each other from their shoulders down to the waist.

Radha-Gokulananda Temple In Vrindavan

Radha-Vinod Deities of Lokanath Goswami, Radha-Gokulananda Deities of Viswanath Cakravarti, Caitanya Mahaprabhu Deity of Narottama Dasa Thakur, Vijaya Govinda Deities of Baladeva Vidyabhushana, and the Govardhana-shila given by Lord Caitanya to Raghunath Dasa Goswami can also be seen here. Radha-Damodara Temple In Vrindavan

The original Deity was hand carved by Rupa Gosvami and given as a gift to his beloved disciple, Jiva Gosvami, who later built a temple. This temple was founded by Jiva Goswami. The main Deities here are Sri Radha-Damodara. Other Deities worshiped here are the Radha-Vrindavana Candra Deities of Krishna Dasa Kaviraja Goswami, the Radha-Madhava Deities of Jayadeva Goswami, and the Radha-Chalacikana Deities of Bhugarbha Goswami. The original Deities were all moved to Jaipur. When the original Deities are moved, the replacement Deity is called a pratibhu-murti and is considered as good as the original Deity.

Shri Ranganatha/Rangaji Temple In Vrindavan

This South Indian style temple was built by the wealthy Seth family of Mathura in 1851 and is dedicated to Lord Sri Ranganatha or Rangaji, a form of Lord Vishnu lying down on the Sesa Naga (divine serpent). It is 30 metres high with three gopurams (gateways), a tall shikhara (crown) and gold-plated decorations at the entrance, there is an electronic puppet show on stories of Krishna, and a small museum.

Imlitala Tree In Vrindavan

Imli Tala means the shade of the tamarind tree. Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu would come daily to Imli Tala to chant japa, when He was living in Vrindavana. At the Imlitala tree (tamarind) Srila Sanatana Gosvami established the worship of Sri Sri Gaura Nitai. There is a small temple here with Gaura-Nitai and Radha-Krishna Deities.

Nidhi Van In Vrindavan
