Govardhan Puja Festival In Vrindavan

During that ancient Period, Lord Krishna convinced the cowherd men to worship Govardhana, instead of doing a sacrifice to please Lord Indra, the king of heaven, who is in charge of the rain. Krishna told the cowherd men that Govardhana Hill was supplying so many necessities and should be worshiped instead. After then Nanda Maharaja and the cowherd men called in learned brahmanas and began to worship Govardhana Hill by chanting Vedic hymns and offering prasadam. In order to convince the devotees that Govardhana Hill and Krishna himself was identical he assumed a great transcendental form and declared himself as Govardhana Hill. Krishna began to eat all the food offered there. The identity of Krishna and Govardhana Hill is still honoured, and devotees take rocks from Govardhana Hill and worship them as Lord Krishna.

Samadhis In Vrindavan

Normally a samadhi is placed near a temple or where a devotee did his bhajana. There are basically three types of samadhis in Vrindavana. They are full body, pushpa samadhi, and smriti (memory). It is said that Jiva Gosvami did bhajana in the exact same place as where his samadhi is located. Braja Mandala Parikrama In Vrindavan

Radha-Gopinath Temple In Vrindavan

Gopinathji was originally installed in Vrindavana by Vajranabha, the great grandson of Krishna. The Deity of Gopinath was discovered at Vamsivat by Paramananda Bhattacharya, who entrusted the Deity’s worship to Madhu Pandita. On the altar are deities of Srimati Radharani and Her sister, Ananga Manjari, Madhu Pandita’s samadhi is next to the temple. When the Muslims raided Vrindavana, the original Gopinath Deity was taken to Jaipur.
