Magh Kumbh Mela In Allahabad

It starts every year from Makar Sankranti in January and ends at Maha Shivratri in February. This annual religious festival is the small version of Maha kumbh mela and ardh kumbh mela and is also called as mini kumbh mela, which is held after every 12 years. The auspicious Magh Mela is so called as it falls in the Magh period (Jan-Feb). Sangam, the confluence of the rivers Ganga, Yamuna and the Saraswati, hosts the annual Magh Mela. During the auspicious period when the Magh Mela is held, a temporary township comes up on the banks of the Ganga River to shelter millions of pilgrims. Kumbh Mela In Allahabad

The Mela is especially renowned for the presence of an extraordinary array of religious ascetics - sadhus and mahants - enticed from remote hideaways in forests, mountains and caves.
